Synthetic Absorbent Pads and Sorbents

PPI Services offers an extensive range of synthetic absorbent pads and products made from materials such as polymers and polypropylene.

Oil Blotter (A610)™

A610 is a granulated polymer that solidifies petroleum-based liquids into large bonded pieces providing waste minimisation. A610 does not bond to or absorb water and therefore works well on hydrocarbon-based spills such as oils, fuels, solvents and oil-based paints on both land and water. A610 bonds with little increase in volume ensuring minimal waste for disposal. The desired degree of solidification and the viscosity of the liquid being bonded determines the amount of product required. Five hundred grams of A610 will bond 7.5 kg of liquid. A610 is certified as incinerable to less than 0.02% ash.

MRO Plus™ Sorbents

Available in absorbent pads and rolls, MRO Plus is a general purpose or universal sorbent, highly effective for clean up and removal of most oil and water based liquids. MRO Plus is manufactured from a high strength, grey dimpled material which combines thickness, durability, high absorbency and low linting. Perforations permit the use of precisely the right amount and the products dark dirt-masking colour enables longer use before disposal. Incineration residue is less than 0.2 % ash by weight. The MRO Plus is manufactured by ultrasonically bonding 2 thin sheets on top and below of a thicker sheet – thus giving it a triple layer effect. The outer two layers are for protecting the sorbent and minimising the lint where as the “inner” thicker sheet provides the absorption.

Universal Plus™ Sorbent

Available in absorbent pads and rolls, Universal Plus is a specially developed chemical sorbent with properties that make it ideal for clean-up of hazardous or aggressive chemicals. A surfactant-treated polypropylene, Universal Plus absorbs up to 16 times its weight in chemicals, water or oil. Versatile and cost effective, Universal Plus can be used on a range of chemicals including hydrofluoric acid. Its fast wicking action minimises the problems of hazmat spills. Universal Plus is chemically inert, so it will not react with aggressive fluids.

UXT™ Universal “Xtra Tough” Sorbent

UXT is a high performance, all purpose product, outstanding in its ability to handle hazardous materials in maintenance, repair and operational environments. UXT is oleophilic (hydrocarbon attracting) and hydrophilic (water absorbing), making it highly effective against oil, acids, solvents, bases, chemicals, coolants and antifreeze. Perforation ensures that you use only the amount needed for the job.

Battlemat™

Battlemat is unique in the sorbent market and is available in both general purpose/universal and oil only. Battlemat is perfect as a walk-on mat or as single use, clean-up sorbents in manufacturing plants and similar environments. The durable, abrasion-resistant upper layer draws liquid into the centre of the product whilst the more impervious lower layer prevents liquids from seeping through to the floor, thus making Battlemat the floor mat of choice wherever there is overspray or heavy traffic. The camouflage pattern also masks drips and spills thereby ensuring longevity. An extremely cost-effective product that incinerates to 0.02% ash.

Sorbent Industrial Rugs (SIR™)

Made of durable, needle punched, polypropylene fibres, the SIR absorbs 10-12 times its weight in oil, water or chemicals. For high traffic areas and workstations - prevents slippery areas and eliminates unsightly tracking between plant and office. SIR can stand up to the most aggressive chemicals.

Barrier Spill Matting (BSM™)

Made of needle punched, polypropylene fibres, BSM is designed with a unique three-ply construction that prevents fluids from penetrating to the floor and provides the best non-slip surface available. BSM absorbs oil, water and chemicals. As further assurance of worker safety, the BSM also resists curling and buckling.

ENV™ Oil Sorbents

Available in absorbent pads and rolls, ENV Oil Sorbents are a relatively new product and represent the most economical of the polypropylene sorbents available. ENV oil sorbents are packed in distinctive green bags, and are an obvious choice when cost is the overwhelming factor governing selection. ENV sorbents are ideal for environmental applications such as spill clean-up.

SPC™ Oil Sorbents

SPC Oil Sorbents are convenient, lightweight, cost-effective and are capable of absorbing up to 25 times their own weight in fuels and oils. Additionally, they are equally effective in soaking up petroleum based solvents and paints, vegetable oils and other non-water soluble chemicals. SPC Oil Sorbents will not absorb water, will float, and are wringable and dustless, unaffected by normal temperature, flame resistant and impervious to both rot and mildew. SPC is the next grade up in quality from the ENV range. SPC is manufactured using the same technology as ENV, however the sorbents are ultrasonically bonded to improve strength and reduce lint. This style of absorbent pad is common to a number of manufacturers, however SPC has the added advantage of being perforated which means that you only use as much of the pad or roll as you need.

Oil Plus™

Available in absorbent pads and rolls, Oil Plus is highly effective in absorbing oil and petroleum products. Oil Plus is constructed from a heavyweight, dimpled material notable for its low linting, thickness and strength. Oil Plus will not pick up water. Suitable for industrial and environmental applications, Oil Plus is perforated which means that you only use as much of the absorbent pads or rolls as you need. Easily disposed of, Oil Plus is incinerable and leaves less than 0.02% ash. Oil Plus is regarded as one of the best oil only sorbents available on the market.

Pillows

Absorbent pillows are excellent for absorbing spills and leaking fluids in restricted circumstances and under persistent drip sources. Choices include: Allwik for absorption of oil, water and chemicals; Oil Only for use in waste troughs, coolant tanks, fluid reservoirs and sump wells; and Hazwik, intended for use with hazardous materials.

Drum Top Covers

Drum top covers are pre-cut to fit 205 litre drums with one or two bung holes. They prevent pump drips from reaching the floor, and keep drum tops and drum storage areas clean. Available in Allwik for oil, water, and chemicals and Oil Only for oil and petroleum based liquids.

Socks

PPI Services offers a wide array of polypropylene socks which can be used to mould around corners and conform to uneven surfaces to prevent and soak up spills and drips. These products are available in a variety of types and sizes. Socks are an everyday working tool for major industries, including chemical plants, heavy and light manufacturing, transportation, printing, and public utilities. Choices include: Allwik which is an all-purpose maintenance sock with moderate chemical resistance that makes it suitable for most industrial applications; Oil Only that will not absorb water or water-based solutions; and Hazwik for use with aggressive fluids. All socks are wringable, incinerable and disposable to landfill depending upon their application.
